Students will work on creating a portrait of a person who has a positive impact on society using text. The image students create will be made entirely from words that person has spoken or words that are used to describe them.. Working from a photograph students will draw out the shapes that create the portrait in pencil.
After the students have drawn their selected persons portrait, they will then add text along the contours to create form. The words that students use to make their portrait must reflect the person chosen, and some how relate to the positive impact they have made on the world. They can choose to use song lyrics, poems, excerpts from books, quotes, speeches, statistics, or any text they want, as long as it is relative. Once students have written out their portraits in pencil, they will go over them in Sharpie Marker. |
"If you ask me what I came to do in this world, I, an artist, will answer you: I am here to live out loud.”
